Click the Apple menu in the top-left and choose About This Mac. If the chip line reads M1 / M2 / M3 / M4 or Apple Silicon, pick the Apple Silicon download. If it says Intel, pick the Intel build. Universal 2 binaries can run on both, but the native build is smaller and snappier.

No harm done. The wrong installer simply won't launch — macOS will offer the matching one in the App Store-style error dialog. On Windows, the SmartScreen warning will point you back to the right build. Always pick the build that matches About This Mac or Settings › System › About.

Yes. Both macOS builds are signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple's notary service — Gatekeeper should pass silently. Windows builds are signed with our EV Authenticode certificate; SmartScreen reputation builds after a few weeks of distribution. If you ever see a warning, it's a sign of a tampered mirror — please report it.

Drag the .app from the DMG into your ~/Applications folder — no admin rights needed. On Windows, the installer requests elevation only for the per-user Start Menu entry; choose "Just for me" to install without admin.
